I can accept that Dumbledore was manipulative, but some people act like EVERY kind thing he did was because he had an ulterior motive, and that's just inaccurate. He didn't have an ulterior motive for not expelling Ginny. He just knew that it would be wrong to scapegoat innocent people to save face. He didn't get angry at Crouch Jr. because of ulterior motives. He was genuinely upset that his students were injured on account of him. He was actually a kind person. It wasn't a front.
